Director of Music & Organist
Dawn Papenfuss was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 2, 1958 (while her dad was finishing Luther seminary and her mom was finishing Deaconess Nursing School) They spent a few years in Dannebrog Nebraska, but spent most of their school years across northern Iowa: Spencer, Osage, and Sioux City. Dawn graduated from North High School in Sioux City and went to Morninside College in Sioux City to get her Bachelor’s of Organ Performance degree. She had been studying with the organ professor at the college during her last year and a half in high school. After graduating, Dawn explored the possibility of getting her Master’s Degree at SMU in Dallas, Texas. Instead, she went to Omaha, NE for her first Ast. Director of Music at Dundee Presbyterian Church. She got to accompany some city choirs that Dr. Brantigan (head of music) directed, and work with children’s choirs and Junior High choir, and lead summer camp music.
